Whether you are writing a letter, addressing an envelope or putting together the most important presentation of the year, your choice of fonts will say something about you. Lazy or unconcerned writers let the default fonts speak for them. And nothing says “I really don’t care” like the default Times New Roman (for Windows) or Cambria (if you are on a Mac) on your Word and email documents.
To make a font selection, consider two basic choices: Modern or Traditional?
T F J If you select Traditional, narrow your choices to serif fonts. Serifs are those minute dangling projections that dangle off of the capital T F and J to the left. Generally, serif fonts are easier to read and discern for Americans in print. However, the extra embellishments can make reading a serif font more difficult on a small type size – especially on a computer monitor.
