With the recent New York Times article “We have met the enemy and he is PowerPoint“ more people are taking a close look at whether this universal tool is enhancing or harming communication. Like it or not, PowerPoint is here to stay and those who learn to use it well will succeed where those who use it poorly will fail.

The medium of PowerPoint is based on SIMPLICITY. PowerPoint is most effective when it is used by a master of editing. For every slide you create ask yourself “what is the one thing I want my audience to understand about this page?” Then eliminate everything that does not support that one thing. Simplicity will create clarity. Clarity is what you want in all communication. Focus on just what is necessary.
